This cable works great for getting your flash off of your camera and into different creative positions. The cable is of high quality and if it's not made in the same factory as the Canon one, it's made down the street!
I've had no failures to fire and the locking connection is very secure.
5 out of 5!

I am not sure where the problems lie with the other reviewers who have written that this product is not recognized by the camera, but it is for me. I have a 5D Mark II and it's recognition of the flash is the exact same as if there were no intermediary cable.
However, the technical specs where it is stated that the cable extends up to 4' is absolutely incorrect unless, possibly, completely uncoiled. It effectively is a 2' extension and with the 270EX, it's all that is needed. For my Quantum Trio, I use a Stroboframe for distance.
I would recommend this product to anyone with a Canon camera. It should be no problem unless the camera is older.

This item never worked once for me. In addition I used it on two canon cameras, not only did it not work in either, but also hence forth both cameras no longer recognise my flash unit! Buy at your own risk!

After reading multiple reviews here on Amazon, I decided to take the chance and purchase a non-Canon sync-cord and I'm glad I did. For about half the price, this cord looks and feels very durable. The sensor locks in place on the flash shoe and never has it misfired. I use it extensively when shooting events and with my real estate photography. I recommmend it highly.

After reading the reviews and not wanting to spend twice as much for the Canon cord I ordered the Opteka to use with my new 270EX speedlite. The camera does not recognize this cord at all. It recognizes the speedlite when mounted on the hot shoe, so I know that is not the problem. Very disappointing.
