"Better Quality than the Canon Grip" 2010-01-08
By Omar
I purchased this grip as a replacement for an actual Canon Grip, the Canon BG-E2N Grip on my Canon 40D was done after about a year of heavy use (the shutter button stopped working) but I knew my Canon 40D was also aging and would be replaced in a few months. So I decided that it was a good time to take a chance on this grip - and Wow!!! what an amazing buy! not only is it identical in form and construction quality to the Canon Grip but it also outdoes it in one respect - I've owned several Canon Grips and they all have that same annoying, cheap plastic feel when you turn the control dial or press the shutter button, not this one though, this Zeikos branded grip has a beautiful well marked yet silky-smooth high-quality feel when you turn the dial that you just don't get with the Canon Grips. Also, when you press the shutter button it feels just as solid and pleasing as pressing the shutter button on the camera itself, again, something I just didn't get with my Canon Grips. It is not an exaggeration for me to say that adding this grip to my 40D all of a sudden made me feel like I had a brand new, much better camera.

Another question would be performance and durability right? Well I am a professional photographer in Los Angeles shooting clients every week with many shoots lasting well over 8 hours and I'm happy to report that this grip has been in heavy use since August, with me shooting 90% of my stuff vertically, and all without a single hitch or loss of quality. I'm going to upgrade to a Canon 5D MarkII soon and I will be buying a Zeikos Grip for it based on the amazing experience I've had with this one.

"Terrible Grip - Causes camera focus button to freeze" 2010-01-08
By thiink (Sacramento, CA.)
I agree with some of the reportings on the grip. This grip has caused my camera to freeze quite frequently during weddings and photoshoots. I thought a cheaper non-canon version may work here, but twice I've had to send my camera back, thinking it was the camera. Bothers me. When I went searching online, I found that other people were reporting the same problems with this grip. I had to buy the more expensive canon version because the Zeikos company keep sending out bad ones in return. No wonder Zeikos ZE-CBG5DII is cheap. However, my camera works now with the new canon grip. Don't have anymore issues.

It works with one battery, optionally can take the second 5D battery or work with 4 AA batteries. Feels comfortable to shoot with.

"Get it before it's gone." 2009-12-19
By William Oterson (About 50 miles, or so, east of Manhattan.)
An excellent product. It's made well, fits right, does everything it's supposed to and I've been using it since purchased. The only thing it hasn't is the name and I'm sorry that I can't make a comparison to the Canon offering as I didn't consider going there. This is the only non Canon product in my arsenal, and If I didn't already own it I'd buy it before it's gone - the price is right.

 "Side-by-side comparison" 2009-12-17
By Craig Hartley (Houston, TX USA)
I just received the Zeikos ZE-CBG5DII battery grip. I also own a Canon brand battery grip. I'm very pleasantly surprised--they are virtually identical in appearance, weight, build and operation. The Zeikos reads both batteries, and comes with the six AA battery pack, tripod socket, and identical controls. The grip's camera connection is solid with no wiggle. Differences are mostly cosmetic.

The Canon grip has "Battery Grip BG-E6" written in small silver letters on the front (you have to look for it.) The Canon also has textured rubber on the front and the back battery door, the Zeikos only textures the rubber on the front, and the Zeikos battery door is smooth.

Nothing about the grip screams "off-brand" (this makes a difference if you are a professional--no one wants a client to think you are cheap!) You've really got to LOOK to see any differences. An excellent buy!
