I was a little hesitant to buy this because I didn't know how solid the construction would be, but I was very pleased when it arrived. It appears to be very sturdy and it screwed easily on to my Canon 28-135 mm lens. I would buy Opteka hoods for my other lenses.

The Opteka is more than sturdy enough and appears to do the job of shielding the lens from ambient light. As another reviewer pointed out, there is a small gap on one side, but it won't affect image quality.
